IRON DISTANCE

// why take this test?

Most golfers obsess over hitting the ball straight — but research shows that distance control is far more important than direction for lowering your scores.

Mark Broadie's Strokes Gained analysis found that amateur golfers lose more strokes from being long or short of the target than from being left or right. On approach shots, your distance error is typically 2x larger than your lateral error — and that gap grows the closer you get to the green. (research paper)

This test checks how well you actually know your iron distances. Enter what you believe each club carries, and the analysis will fit a curve to reveal inconsistencies — gaps where your perceived distance doesn't match the pattern of your swing. Knowing your real numbers is the fastest way to eliminate wasted strokes.
